Stage 18 looks like another opportunity for a successful break.

2 players picked Jonas today - congrats to Paul Topp and Toby Brick*.

A lot of players predicted a GC battle at the finish so a lot of podiums amongst us. The exception being Rebe Santos who was hoping the break would be given some leeway which didn't happen. Rebe held a podium position since stage 8 but sadly drops down to 21st today.

The GC is still led by Tony B by 4:03 ahead of me. Yvette P jumps to third 10:23 off the lead.

Rebe's consolation with drop in GC is maintaining a lead in the stage winners contest. Nobody else has yet managed a fifth stage win!

Stage 17 is a lumpy affair but may not be of much interest to the GC contenders. In all likelihood we'll have a few riders up the road in a break - and less likely to be reeled in. Plenty of time to be gained if you pick the right rider tomorrow!

That was an exciting finish - and with the small breakaway group holding on (and the GC times taken early) there's nobody troubling the podium nor any changes to GC times today. So time to enjoy the rest day tomorrow whilst mulling your selections for Stage 16.

Tuesdays stage is an explosive yet compact stage - just 113km long but most of those are vertical.
